Sanctuary of Truth

Sanctuary of truth

The building was constructed according to ancient Thai ingenuity and every square inch of the building is covered with wooden carve sculpture.  The  purposes  of decoration  with wooden carved sculptures are to use art and culture as the reflection of Ancient Vision of Earth, Ancient Knowledge, and Eastern Philosophy. Well, that's how the Thai's describe. It's an amazing wooden temple that has been 25 years in the making, with another 25 years to go. The temple is located in Naklua at the northen end of Pattaya at 206/2 Moo5 Naklua 12, Naklua Rd. A baht bus will have you there in a flash.

You can also swim with dolphins in a nearby attraction.

Buddha Statues

Pratumnak Hill & Kao Phra Yai Wat (Temple) - Khao Pha Ya. Near King Rama IX Fitness Park on top of the hill on the way to Jomtien Beach. Look for arched entrance on left at the top of Pratumnak Road.
Visit the Buddha Park, a giant Buddha protects the people of Pattaya. The road itself gives a panoramic view of Pattaya Bay

Wat Yansangwararam

Take Sukhumvit going south about 12 km. From Pattaya. The entrance is on the left, 2 km. Before Nong Nooch Village. It is well sign posted.

Women and men should have shoulders covered and wear long pants or skirts. The temple complex stands on 147 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. The temple is noted for its modern Thai architecture.

There is also a magnificent Chinese museum on the grounds. I bring all my visitors here and they are inevitably impressed. I particularly like the Chinese museum. If you only choose to look at one Wat in Thailand, make it this one.

The setting is beside a lake and hardly anyone comes here. There is a small restaurant near the Chinese museum where you can sit in a Tea House and relax beside the lake.

Wat Phra-Phuta-Maha-Vachira-Uta-Mokat-Sasda
Chi Jan Hill Carved Buddha Image.

Turn left on Sukhumvit after Wat Yansangwararam or coming from the wat, turn right in front of the Chinese temple. The image is etched into the rock and inlaid with gold . It is beautifully landscaped with seats and covered areas. Plenty of parking.

This is huge and endless amounts of money was spent on its construction. Only a twenty minute experience but if you check out Wat Yansangwararam its a small side trip, well worth doing.

Naval Broadcasting Radio Station and Wat Thappaya

Radio Station View
Take Pratumnak Road up the hill. At the 1st junction toward Royal Cliff, turn right and go up a small road.

There is a small temple (wat) on the top right. You can enjoy the best view of Pattaya either from the temple or the meteorological and radio station

Chapel of the Redemptorist Center
Redemptorist Center
Sukhumvit behind the main conference building.

Open Daily. English mass. The chapel was built in 1982. It took 2 years to complete the painting of the interior walls which depict the Gospels. This has been done beautifully and is well worth a visit. The exterior is decorated with pieces of ceramic reminiscent of Wat Arun and Wat Po in Bangkok.
